The Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults
The Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults is designed to bring adults into
full communion with the Catholic Church and, in so doing, to make available the fullness of the means of salvation.
The RCIA is intended primarily for three types of individuals, namely:
- Non-Christians wishing to convert to Catholicism (Usually a two year
process)
- Non-Catholic Christians wishing to become Catholic
- Baptized Catholic individuals who for whatever reason have not received
First Eucharist or Confirmation.
Anyone
interested in learning more about becoming Catholic, entering into full
communion with the Catholic Church, or receiving missed Sacraments through the
RCIA program should please contact Mike Lambrecht at the religious education
office at 359-9006.
The RCIA process is divided into four
parts. They are:
- The Precatechumenate: A time for inquiry
into the Catholic faith
- The Catechumenate: A period of teaching
and formation in the Catholic faith
- The Period of Purification and
Enlightenment: A time for purification and enlightenment
- Mystagogy and the Neophyte Year: A period
during the first year after reception of Confirmation during which the new
member continues to learn more about the faith.
