About the DRE:

I was born and raised Catholic in Wausau. I attended Holy Name Elementary School, St. Mathew’s Middle School, and graduated from Newman High School in 1997. I then spent one year at UW-MC before deciding to enter the seminary in preparation for priesthood. During this time I spent 3 years at St. Mary’s University in Winona, Minnesota at Immaculate Heart of Mary Seminary. After graduating from St. Mary’s I continued my studies in Rome at the Pontifical North American College. However, after much discernment and prayer, I determined that the path to the priesthood is not where Our Lord was calling me to be. As such, I discontinued my priestly formation in 2003. I spent some time working at local businesses before being given the opportunity to serve at St. Therese.

As the new Director of Religious Education, it is my responsibility to train the children of the parish in the faith and to prepare them for receiving the sacraments. I take these responsibilities very seriously and am constantly looking for ways to improve upon the existing program so that the children will get the best Catholic education we can offer. Fortunately, I will not be undertaking this task alone. I have an excellent group of volunteers to aid me in this task, without which it would not be possible to fulfill my duties. It is also necessary to have dedicated parents of faith to guide their children by their example and to take them to the classes and events held throughout the year.

Once again I would like to stress what a privilege and honor it is for me to be here. If you have any questions, comments, or suggestions, please feel free to visit me in the office or to give me a call at 359-9006 .Thank you.

Sincerely,

Mike Lambrecht
